Dawn M. Fisler

dfisherAlthough not a native of Las Vegas, I have always considered  Las Vegas as my home, I was brought to Las Vegas when I was just 2 years old. I was involved with the community even as teenager with the local 4-H clubs.  I taught leadership skills to younger children from less advantaged areas of our community.  I had been recognized early on, assisting the establishment of sponsorships for the annual 4-H horse clubs rodeo program.

Upon my graduation for UNLV I persisted and pursued,  a career in the Insurance and Financial Services Industry. I choose American National Insurance, a company that did relativity no advertising over some of the larger carriers because of their philosophy.

I was progressive and instrumental  by entering an industry that was  typically a male dominated, business. I open doors for more female insurance agents, mentoring young female agents.

I continued my education and received an additional degree from the American College, and in 1991 obtained a L.U.T.C.F , this is similar to a masters degree in the insurance and financial world.   I attended classes that were predominately male. Often, I was the only female attending classes. This ratio has changed dramatically over the last 8 years.

Women’s issues have always been  a part of my commitment to our community. I  have spoken to at risk youth about  not giving up on their dreams. Taught classes to young business owners on how to improve their business and assisted them in obtaining the necessary tools to be successful.

In 2002, my husband and I adopted two of the most amazing boys, from the Ukraine. We were told so many times during the adoption process, “nobody has ever done that” and “I don’t think you can do that“.  We pressed on and never took no for an answer.

The quote that comes to mind and endearing to me is  by president Coolidge :

Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race

I have always focused on the strategic solution, to further my business and my community. I joined Nawbo as a member in the Winter 2007 and took an active roll with in the organization.

Since joining NAWBO, I have been instrumental in creating a marketing plan from scratch. Responsible  for organizing the collection suits for the Nevada Business Authorities women to women project. I have helped NAWBO with the Bear drive in 2008 where we collected 284 Bears that helped the Fire Fighter Burn Foundation. This year our organization  was instrumental with the cooperation of Nevada State Bank, in  providing 436 meals to needy families.

I still focus on the future,
