The Women of Distinction Foundation is being formed to assist women small business owners through a micro loan program.  Once the foundation is up and running it will be contracting with an appropriate licensed financial institution to administer the loan fund.  The foundation will set-up their own loan policies and procedures and the Board of Directors will be involved in the decision making process on approving applications.

Micro loans are usually loans under $10,000 that are fully amortized over  three to six years and have an interest rate slightly higher than commercial banks yet lower than standard credit card rates.  They are the perfect vehicle for the entrepreneur that has an established business and needs a small amount of funds to expand their business or for a start-up business that may be just short of the total funds they need to open their business.  Traditionally micro lenders are less interested in the collateral for the loan and are more willing to look at applicants with past credit problems because they focus more on the business idea, marketing plan, and skills of the owner for the ability to repay the loan.

The Women of Distinction Foundation will raise the necessary funds for this loan program by hosting the Women of Distinction Awards Luncheon in March as well as accepting donations from the business community.
