Awards

Chairwoman: Bea Goodwin

This committee is responsible for identifying and submitting names of local chapter members who may qualify for awards sponsored by the National NAWBO and other organizations.  In addition, the local committee will be developing chapter-level awards to be presented to NAWBO members for their support of the organization.

 

Business Development

Chairwoman: Joice Bass

This committee consists of a representative and an alternate to the Clark County Business Development Council as well as members who are interested in identifying business opportunities for the membership. The members of the committee will act as liaisons to corporate and government purchasing offices and facilitate the flow of information between those entities and the NAWBO membership.

 

Communications

Chairwoman: Dawn Fisler

This committee is responsible for communicating information to the membership about NAWBO news and events. The communication tools include the quarterly newsletter, monthly postcard invitations, the chapter web site, and the weekly email bulletin called the Tuesday News. Members of this committee could write copy, help to proofread, and obtain information about business opportunities and events of interest to the membership.

 

Community Outreach

Chairwoman:

This team is charged with leading NAWBO’s involvement in a number of local charitable projects and programs. In addition, they will be looking for more ways our local chapter can give back to the community and gain visibility.

 

Corporate Partners

Chairwoman: Susan Splan

The Corporate Partner Committee is responsible for identifying and soliciting new corporate partners as well as maintaining relationships with our existing partners. The chairman communicates information to the Board regarding issues, concerns, comments, etc. of our partners.

 

Education

Chairwoman: Christina Polk

In keeping with our mission to support and educate women business owners, the Education Committee schedules informational programs for monthly meetings, workshops and educational events that are business oriented and reflect our mission statement. Members communicate with potential speakers to choose the best for our organization and then get the necessary information for our newsletter and postcard invitations. Committee members will help choose the topics, arrange for speakers, coordinate logistics, and assist with facilitation.   

 

Hospitality

Chairwoman: Dee Ladd

The Hospitality Committee greets members and guests at meetings and special events, and to solicit raffle prizes and facilitate the raffles at each luncheon and mixer. Members of this committee will be asked to act as hostesses and introduce new members and guests to other members.  The hospitality committee also organizes chapter mixers and assists with new member breakfasts.

 Marketing & Public Relations

Chairwoman: Dawn Fisler

Every great organization needs a marketing strategy, and NAWBO is no different. This committee will oversee development of a marketing plan for the organization, and generally guide the organization in all facets of marketing itself to local women business owners.

 

Public Relations will be looking for ways to get NAWBO in the news.  Responsibilities will include:  informing local media of upcoming NAWBO events through press releases and media contact, acting as our media liaison, looking for opportunities to shine the spotlight on worthy NAWBO members, and generally increasing NAWBO’s visibility through local media.

 

Member Services

Chairwoman:

The Membership Committee actively recruits new members and maintains contact with existing members in order to ensure retention. It also assists Hospitality in arranging membership mixers. Members of the Membership Committee are expected to attend mixers and answer questions from potential members. They will also be responsible for greeting members and guests at luncheons, collecting business cards, making nametags, and giving out membership packets at those events

 

Membership

Chairwoman: Valerie Parker

Public Policy

Chairwoman: Jeanne Richard Jones

The Public Policy committee monitors legislative matters - local, state and national - and makes the membership aware of any items that may directly affect their businesses, encourages voter registration and participation, and develops other programs aimed at forwarding the public policy agenda. Additionally, the committee assists with any political mixers or events held by the Chapter.

 

Women of Distinction Awards

Chairwoman: Bea Goodwin

This committee is responsible for the planning and implementation of our chapter’s most successful and visible special event, the Women of Distinction Awards Banquet. This event requires lots of “woman power” and has several sub-committees. There is something there for everyone.
