Ms. Keefer is the
managing partner of the firm, Serl & Keefer, CPAs,
concentrating her efforts in small business accounting and
taxation services as well as complex individual income tax
returns and estate tax planning.
The firm also provides bookkeeping services and
performs reviews and compilations of financial statements
and general business consulting.
She has extensive experience working with
construction companies and professional corporations and
assists clients with their in-house accounting systems
including training of staff.
Shelby also is very knowledgeable in the field
of taxation and provides planning as well as compliance work
for her business clients and individuals.
Ms. Keefer has been a resident of
Las Vegas
since 1988 when she joined the national accounting firm of
Laventhol and Horwath.
She left public accounting for a short period to
become the controller of a group of construction
corporations before starting her own public accounting firm
in 1991 which later became part of Serl & Keefer.
Ms. Keefer received her bachelor’s degree
from the University of Minnesota
in Business Administration – Accounting.
Shelby
has served on many non-profit boards of directors.
She is the Vice-Chair of Finance for the North Las
Vegas Chamber of Commerce and its Foundation and is the
Treasurer of the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada.
She was a member of the board of directors and is a
past president of the National Association of Women Business
Owners – Southern Nevada Chapter from 1991 to 2003.
Shelby
is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants and the Nevada Society of Certified Public
Accountants.
Ms.
Keefer is the recipient of the 2002 National Association of
Women Business Owners Woman of Distinction award, 1995 Small
Business Association Small Business Advocate – Accountant
for the State of Nevada award, 1997 Minority Purchasing
Council Business Person award and has been listed in the
Distinguished Women of Southern Nevada publication since
1995.
Shelby
regularly speaks to trade organizations and other groups
including Clark County Business Development, Small Business
Administration, Nevada Micro-Enterprise Initiative and the
Women’s Financial Information Programs sponsored by AARP.
